Motivated by what?

Image via tom boy style in the 1940s.  Quote via yesterday.Yesterday was a good day.  Probably one of the most thought provoking days I've had in a while. I had the privilege to attend a twelve step meeting as part of my clinical experience.  It was such a wonderful and spiritual experience.  Something that was said that I fell completely in love with was.  "Are we motivated by fear or are we motivated by faith?" I couldn't get this thought out of my head and had a good conversation with Spencer about it.  I couldn't help but think of all the things I do in my life out of motivation of fear.  Fear of failing a test, so I am motivated to study.  Fear of the unknown, especially with graduation in one month.  I really love this and want to be motivated to do things out of faith that I will succeed rather than motivated by fear of failing.

Molly...I dont know if you did that on purpose but whew...it was rough reading! I think I have a headache. Glad I finished though...awesome message. Its got me thinking too. I'm reading the Great and Terrible series by Chris Stewart and I am just in the first book. Something I read got stuck in my head and I cant shake it. They are in the pre-mortal world and are talking about how beautiful and wonderful and perfect it is there and how they dont want to leave to come to earth. They were afraid to forget. Its a brother and sister and he says "...How could we forget this place? But the forgetting is so complete that once we are there, we don't want to come back. We fight to stay there, we fight to stay on the earth. It's like fighting to stay in prison. It doesn't make any sense, but we develop a terrible loathsome fear of death, of coming back home. I don't know but that strikes me as almost absurd. We get so involved in our life that we fight to stay there! And we mourn those who proceed up to this side of the veil. That seems so...I don't know but it's a little scary to me."

Sorry I didn't realize it was so long. Dont worry about reading the book I just typed half of it up for you. :) Anyways, I have been mulling this over because its so true. We did forget and can't see whats to come. Really put my life into perspective. Where are we really? Where did we come from? Where are we going? This silly fictional book has painted a picture that is forever in my mind. I fear so much and have so little faith. Death to us is the scariest thing on earth and in the perspective of these waiting to come to earth its what they long for; to return home.

Sorry about the blah blah blah but your post touched me and I felt I wanted to share my thought with you. Hope all is well at your house. Take care.
