Thursday

Baby boy is celebrated.

On Saturday we had Hailey's shower at Grandpa's.  It was so much fun.  Some of our most dear friends were there to show Hailey some love.  We sat around talking in the yard for four hours we were having such a good time in the nice summer weather.  What more do you need than good company, good food, and sunshine?

More stuff I love.

Last week I shared some photos I found that I absolutely loved. Well, I found another stack of pictures at my Grandpa's that I was DYING over. How great are these pictures. Not only is their shape great, but the color palette is absolutely gorgeous. I am really loving the soft winter color palette lately. This sky is this color most nights, and it is awesome. Do you have any old picture you love?

Wednesday

I seriously love this stuff.

I go to Grandpa Leonard's a couple times a week. We hang out. We do puzzles. We drink Diet Coke. He shows me some e-mails. We eat mini-frosted wheats. He eats lemon drops. And we look at old pictures. He tells me stories about when he was a kid. He tells me how much he misses Grandma and she was his sweetheart. Every one of those items, almost every time. It is awesome.

Last week I went over to his house, looking for a picture of him when he was young for a project I am working on for my house. We did the explained routine, I also brought my camera along. I asked Grandpa if I could start taking more and more pictures of him in his old age. He said sure! Yes. I was happy.  I also filmed him telling me what he and Grandma would do for Valentines or special Valentine's he remembers. This day, was one of the those days that you want to delicately roll up and place in your treasure chest.

We then looked at all of these pictures. Grandpa will tell me a story about each picture. I seriously love this stuff. I LOVE old pictures: their coloring, their awesome borders or rounded edges (why don't they come like that anymore?), and their earned, tattered or burnt edges. I asked Grandpa if I could borrow these pictures and want to start plastering them around my house.  Gosh. Old pictures are cool. And Old people are cool, too.

Thursday

get well soon.

Papa Leonard broke his foot last week.
Poor guy.

Gosh I hate when ANYTHING happens to him.
I just want to make everything better when it does.
But I can't.

I have spent a lot of time this past weekend with him.
We played four games of cribbage and he beat me every time.
He was loving it. Secretly, me too but I had to put my game face on.
I also made him Grandma's 'healthy cookies'.
He said he's been wanting them for seven years.
I love when Papa Leonard is happy.
Even if it means beating me.

I can't imagine my life without him.
He is not only the best grandpa anyone could ask for.
But he is the BEST friend.
I'm so lucky he lives 1.67 miles away.

Love you Papa Leonard.
Get better.
Because mojo can't stand to see you hurt for one more second.

Sunday

Way back when.

In September. We took Papa Leonard to the fair.  He has always loved horses. He used to have a couple. So that was his favorite part.

Thursday

the good and bad of yesterday. and memorial weekend.

Let's start with the bad:

I picked up a rock, turned out to be a dead mouse.
Sliced my finger while using the buzz sander.
Lost my softball game.
I was scared last night that the wind would take us away.

And the good:

I sanded and painted the pillars on the outside of our house.
I painted the mailbox.
Knocked some work out of the way.
Had a delicious healthy dinner.
The weather was warm.
Was barefoot 83% of the day.

And memorial weekend:

Leni & Spencer rode horses.
We hung out a Grandpas. And I ALWAYS admire his mantle. I think its the raddest. And his yard.

And we relaxed.

We visited Heath and Grandma at the cemetary. They are right next to each other partying it up.

I planned on doing some projects, like refinishing these frames, but chose to enjoy family instead.

I wore my comfiest dress ever. Spencer's calls it my Miss Lippy dress.

And... I wore my new shades. 12.99 baby.

Spencer read. Day in and day out. No surprises there.

We admired all of the flags and patriotism around town.

We got italian sodas.

And we drove around.

Twas a good weekend even though the weather gave the February vibe.

Wednesday

it's all about the d.d.d.details.

okay so carrie's wedding post numero dos.
i wanted to do a post of the details.
because i believe that a wedding doesn't have to be expensive to be neat.
we made a lot of stuff for carrie's wedding.
so i thought i'd share.

hold. on. it's long...

mom and carrie made the dress.

mom made allllll the bridesmaid dresses

carrie and i made this backdrop. i think it cost only $16.
but the hanging part was what should have cost it a million dollars. it was a pain in the hiney. but looked cool.

the many many flower balls were a joint effort.

navyperl a.k.a my sisters and i made the flower sashes

i made a 50 ft. banner that went across the yard. probably cost $8. and somehow ended up in spencer's shirt.

carrie's talented mother in law made these menu's for the wedding dinner.

carrie made the table clothes and designed the flowers.
we bought the fabric in l.a. garment district for $2 a yard.

i whipped up little signs in photoshop and my sisters helped me make these cake pops. $15 i'm guessing.

i made pinwheels. probably $20. but a lot of time...
but everyone seemed to enjoy them. including grandpa leonard!

carrie and her mother in law made these little gems.

carrie found these little girl dresses on j.crew but they were really expensive.
so my made the little girls dresses out of carrie's wedding dress fabric.
they turned out even cuter than the j. crew ones.
headbands by navyperl.
*leni loved stealing my shoes.

we bought the twins suits in garment district in l.a.
not homemade. but adorable nonetheless.

we bought this awesome, awesome striped fabric in l.a. too.

believe it or not. carrie's hairpiece came from this vail carrie and i played with as 'dress up' when we were little at my grandma's house. we used to think it was hideous. but it turned out really cool.
leave it up to carrie to turn something random into a beautiful piece. that's her talent.

we reused some stuff too that we had.
not the actual cake :)

and the band was amazing!!!
they came from utah.
check them out. the joe muscolino band.
i HIGHLY recommend them.

and the fun we had.

that's all.
we had so much fun.

You know you want to.
