Old Fashioned Christmas

A few pictures that inspired me for this year's christmas season. 

A love.

I have developed over the past few years a love for typography.  It is so exciting to browse the internet for the latest fonts and creative font websites.  As I have designed various invitations, my favorite part is always the fonts.  The perfect pairing of fonts is really tricky but when they come together, it's magic.

Black and white summer.

I know summer time is for everything colorful, but for some reason lately, I am obsessed with all things black and white.  There is something about black and white and simplicity.  I like it.  A lot.

Baby Boy.

My hermana (sister) is having a baby boy in t minus five weeks.  I am ecstatic.  This last weekend my mom and sisters and I all rode in an all women's bike race.  Hailey rode 50 miles!  At 8.5 months prego, she rocked it.  In a couple weeks we are throwing her a shower and I am lucky enough to be planning it with my mom.  I love any reason to throw a party, especially for babies.  We are doing it at Grandpa Leonard's house.  We do everything there, it's just plain fun.  Both sisters had their wedding celebrations there, and my graduation party, and my sister's super fun bridal shower, and bimonthly sunday barbeques.  Want to know how sweet Grandpa Leonard is, I asked him if we could do Hailey's shower there, and the next day I stopped by to find seven planters potted and filled with beautiful flowers for my sister's shower.  He really is that cool.

They have a name pretty much decided which is to die for and I can not wait to love on that little nugget.  And then in August, Spencer's sister is having a baby girl, Amelia.  I am in heaven with all these babies coming my way.

The best HAS come!

We had a fun, busy weekend which included some of our favorite summer activities.  For instance, a campfire in the mountains while cooking tin foil dinners and smores with good company, taking pictures with that delicious golden summer light, taking a nap on a blanket in the grass, eating dinner outside, going on bike rides.  Unfortunately we had to throw a little studying in the mix, but we took our fair share of breaks!  Everything about summer is just wonderful.

Mothers day Mad Lib and Envelopes

I was laying in bed the other night thinking of Mother's day and an idea popped into my head about making a Mother's day Mad Lib.  How's that for alliteration?  So I sat down with some pens and paper and jotted down a Mad Lib.  This was one of our favorite games as a kid and usually ended with bathroom issues as the topic.  Classy, no.  Hilarious?  As a kid, yes.  Back to the point, I made a little printable you can use to make your mothers day mad lib for that special little lady.  I wanted something pretty to insert it in, so I made a couple envelopes and have shared how I did it.  It might not be the best way, but it worked!

Make GREAT things happen.

Over here I have been contemplating life a lot lately. Thinking about what I have accomplished, what I am currently accomplishing, and future goals/dreams/decisions. I have thought greatly about each of these goals. Weighed their outcomes. Weighed their eternal importance. And ultimately weighed the challenges that will either deter me from reaching these goals or challenges that will strengthen me and help me grow. On a daily basis, I like to check out this web page.  I have been following these ladies for over a year. They include the chief editor, Lara Casey, for Southern Brides Magazine, photographer/life coach Natalie Norton, photographer Gina Zeilder, and graphic design/letterpress owner Emily Ley.  All INSPIRING ladies.  I absolutely, 167% love this website.  I have never left this site without feeling inspired to Make. Things. Happen.  I was talking to my sister about goals today and was once again inspired.  Fear too often sneaks its way in between my confidence and the ability to reach my goals. Natalie Norton gave me just courage I needed today. "Stand up, lean in, own your agency and make great things happen".

*My good friend had a baby shower recently and I was lucky enough to design her cards. I have been doing a lot of designing lately and have been loving every minute of it.

Birthdays and Love.

This weekend has been full of Birthdays.

Friday I went to Utah to celebrate my sister Carrie's 26th birthday. We celebrated with a sushi party with friends and family at her house. It was such a good time! She is the master sushi maker.

Today we spent the day at Spencer's parents for his Mama's birthday. We made cupcakes and a homemade card for her. Spencer let his creative juices flow with this one. Ha. We had the most fun time making it and it took us back to kindergarten for sure. I had to add glitter to it. He HATES. I repeat HATES glitter because it gets everywhere. But I think it always add the perfect amount of bling.

It was a great weekend celebrating two of our most favorite peoples birthdays.

I have also been making a few valentines and cutting out a few hearts along the way.

HeART

I'll be the first to admit. I used to think Valentine's was pretty lame. I don't like when people feel obligated, especially to send flowers, chocolate, etc. But I've had a change of heart. There is something kind of sweet about making a homemade valentine or decorating little spaces in your house with hearts. I in fact, want to do a Valentine craft night. Nothing fancy, we could even cut out paper hearts.

Happy Anniversathree! To my man, my main squeeze! He's charming and gracious. Not to mention funny, hard-working, and down right bodacious! Three years of bliss, deserving a ten second kiss. There are simply no words to accurately define, the love that I have or how happy he's mine!

Rolling in the deep.

Last night Spencer and I watched a movie my friend lent me called "If Only". I am sure some of you have seen it. I think Spencer did not really like it because the actors weren't the best. He's the worst movie critic, but I am not a movie critic at all. I like any and everything, and I rarely notice bad acting. Always a sucker for chick flicks. I particularly keen of the happy endings. Even though the movie was predictable, it had a really powerful message. And about half way through the movie, I cried for 1/2 of the last of the movie.  Boom it hit me. I don't know why but the movie made me really, really miss my sister. I don't cry very often over missing her, I just like to have happy memories. But sometimes I get annoyed. Annoyed and angry that she isn't here. Annoyed that she died at 18. Because I know we would have been so close. I think we are a lot a like. People have told me that, but I just think of all the fun we could be having, and I get sad. Spencer first thought I was sad because of the movie, yes it was sad, but sometimes, usually the most random times, I miss her. I think it is okay to have times like these those. Because for some reason, it reassures your love for the person missed. It almost makes it feel real in such a surreal circumstance. I told Spencer that I just wanted to see her so bad. And he then said we get to be with her often. I asked what? where?. He said the temple. Which is so true. She is there. I feel closer to her when I go. Whether or not the movie was good. The message was good. And last night I hugged Spencer a little tighter. And sometimes it is good to be reminded, by cheesy actors nonetheless, to appreciate what you have. 

On a lighter note. I made the little image above. I think it is a helpful reminder. Because usually when I forget the proper table etiquette, it is a time when I don't want to forget. You know what I mean?

I have sort of an obsession with children's clothing.  I think it is so cute in a small version.  I love to collect pictures of kids clothes I see and like, it almost feels like I am purchasing them without the guilt of buying.  I have a feeling I will be in trouble when I have kiddos.  If I had a little one, I would like to dress them in the clothing portrayed below. I wouldn't mind one in my size either.
