"Fall is here, hear the yell.
Back to school, ring the bell."
               - Jack Johnson

Thursday

picked.

did i mention i love fall?
i do.

over labor day i worked in the garden.

these will soon be apple pie.

spencer and i had no idea what we were doing when we planted a garden.
we literally worked in it like twice this year.
we learned a lot though about what to do next year.

it so satisfying to be able to go a grab dinner in your back yard.
i've made dinner twice this week from the garden.

i think i'm kind of liking this whole garden thing.

today my mom and i made homemade salsa
mostly made with our garden produce.
and zucchini bread. with zucchini from the garden.
it felt good.

don't you just love this time of year?
i just want to cook and make crafts all day long.
autumn is the best.

i love it.
but... today was too cold to quick!
i want the sunny, chilly days.

Wednesday

last minute girl

oh yeah. i had to hurry and pick some veggies before i left.
don't let anyone tell you gardens are easy.
and don't let them tell you they aren't worth it.
i think.

Monday

started with a seed

(radishes picked from my garden today)

if i'm this excited about watching something grow and develop.
i can't imagine how i'll be with children.

Friday

please don't rain.

flowers in my yard

going camping! woohoo!
happy weekend

Wednesday

reap what you sow

reapcut or gather (a crop or harvest)
sow: plant (seed) by scattering it on or in the earth

reap what you sow = gather what you've planted

i sort of but never really knew what reap and sow meant.
so i thought i'd clear things up for myself and those of you who didn't know either.

we planted today.
we have a ginormous garden.
ginormousextremely large
i didn't know ginormous was an actual word.
well it is.
got that cleared up to.
yeah we have a EXTREMELY LARGE garden.

i have never planted before, and spencer hasn't either.
so we HOPE, that we can reap what we sow this fall.
let's just hope there is something to reap.

we didn't have stakes. so when spencer left, i made my own.
he came back with stakes and said these have got to go.
he wants to make signs that are colored and nicely labeled.
he's ambitious.

the 'new' stakes.

we're pretty excited about the garden.
if you're ever in the neighborhood, you know where to find some vegetables.
excuse me, i have to go finish planting corn, pumpkins and potatoes.

p.s. this a project banner i've been working. i'll post it in a few days once its done.
