Fall walk

Spencer and I ventured out on a fall walk the other night.  He had the camera half the time, and me the other half.  It's so fun to see how he shoots.

Whoa it has felt like forever since I have posted on our blog.  I feel like I have been documenting our life everywhere else but here.  Journals and more journals, and instagram of course; however, I miss this.  So I vow to do better.  For me. 

Every fall I tell myself to not let the season pass without taking full advantage of its beauty, yet it seems like it does every year.  I love that this year, I have taken part of all things nostalgic regarding fall.  And I love that.  I love that I have had the time too.  Fall walks.  Apple pies.  Picking leaves.  Apple cider. New candles.  Dressing in sweaters and big socks.  It feels so nice to partake in this favorite season of mine and not be distracted by the deadlines of school.

Work has been going really good.  I feel like it gets better the more I learn.  Knowledge is slowly replacing fear.  I am still trying to get used to night shift but it will come and it is surely.  Its hard to know if I am really tired from pregnancy or the night shift.  I, too, have been taking a lot of pictures which is such a nice change from work.  It lets me use the other side of my brain.

My favorite thing this fall however, is knowing a little bean is growing in me.  Gosh we are so excited. I am 15 1/2 weeks and have had a fairly great pregnancy.  Other than some sickness, I feel dang lucky. (Sorry Hailey, I know it's quite the opposite for you).  It's so awesome being pregnant.  I feel like it has given me so much purpose and self worth and I have never been so content.  We are so thrilled to meet our bean and will find out this month what we are having.  

Update in a nutshell.  But I will be back.  Soon.  I'm holding myself to it. 

The Fall Haul

I get this way EVERY time around this time of year.  I start get the aching for all things fall.  I've decided its my favorite season.  Not just because I am tired of the hot summer weather, I just love the crispness of everything in fall--- the clothes, the food, the air, the decor....  What's your favorite season?

As always, conference was sure a treat.

It's the best weekend where you can legitimately chill.

Sunday we did a little craftin' while watching conference.

I swear someone at my mom's house is always working on a project or crafting.

So I abandoned my homework and joined in.

Thanks to my lovely sisters at Navy Perl, they are always letting me use their fabric flowers for something.

With their flowers,

I ended up making this door hanging.

A couple flowers on sticks.

A wreath.

And a baby mobile. (no, not for me).

today and i went thrifting. and scored! big time.  i will share my items because they are that rad.
i also made this little wreath today too. except it is not little. but rather large.

and. it. was. free. boom!
do you remember free fallin' last year.  well here she comes again.

i was out in my garden tonight picking potatoes

 and decided i wanted to make some coasters real quick.

and then coasters turned into a table arrangement

and a table arrangement turned into a tradition i want to start.

i want to leave notes, like the one below.

for my children and hubby to find while eating breakfast in the morning.

so i...

i am happy with the results.

the coasters are my favorite.

the best part it is.. it was free.

fall in my house.

despite me whining about how long class felt yesterday; it was such a good day.

for many reasons that i will unfold soon!

let me give you a scenario:

1. you love fall

2. but you are a poor college student

3. you go get one of hatties jars in your basement

4. you pick up sticks in your yard

5. you climb on ladders and break branches from a tree

6. and you build yourself a bouquet :)

i love it! it is HUGE, even though it looks small

over labor day i worked in the garden. 

these will soon be apple pie.

spencer and i had no idea what we were doing when we planted a garden.

we literally worked in it like twice this year.

we learned a lot though about what to do next year. 

it so satisfying to be able to go a grab dinner in your back yard.

i've made dinner twice this week from the garden.

i think i'm kind of liking this whole garden thing. 

today my mom and i made homemade salsa

mostly made with our garden produce. 

and zucchini bread. with zucchini from the garden. 

it felt good.

don't you just love this time of year?

i just want to cook and make crafts all day long.

autumn is the best. 

i love it. 

but... today was too cold to quick!

i want the sunny, chilly days. 

ooh i love this season.
